What’s the Journey?

The Woodworker’s Journey is here to inspire your passionate pursuit of the craft. It’s a series of insights and experiences from my own journey past and present, and the journey of other woodworkers and creative souls. The lessons learned and wisdom gained are what I share with you to help inspire and empower your own Woodworker’s Journey. The topics here are from the “other side” of woodworking: inspiration, design, creativity, the woodworker’s mind, passion, and the business of woodworking. Passionate people hang out here. They’re passionate about the art and craft of woodworking and desire greater fulfillment through it.

  • Have you ever looked at a particular piece of woodwork and thought, “I’d sure like to build one of those?”
  • Have you ever seen or read about other furniture makers and wished you could have their day to day life in the shop?
  • Do you catch yourself daydreaming about the next time you can be in your shop?
  • Do you secretly wish you could make a living with your woodworking?
  • Do you consider yourself privileged to be a woodworker?

If so, pull up a chair, grab a drink, invite your friends, and get ready to be inspired.

Who’s Adam King?

I’m changing the way people exist. When I’m not designing and building high end furniture that heals the home with tranquility, I’m here writing and recording inspiration in small doses that bring you closer to working and living with passion and purpose.

My involvement in woodworking can be traced to my early childhood. Along life’s road, I’ve tried many paths and learned many things. It never occurred to me when I was younger to consider woodworking as a life choice, despite growing up in a family-owned retail furniture store. So, I pursued things like criminal justice, computer tech, theological studies, construction, finish carpentry, and even wilderness survival. Through it all in the background, there was this nagging that wouldn’t go away.

What possibilities exist within the realms of woodworking?”

So, I began my journey into woodworking. After several years learning on my own, I found myself in school studying fine woodworking and antique restoration. It was there that I learned the value of time, patience, passion, and desire in terms of fine woodworking. It’s these lessons I now desire to share with you. I’ve experienced the transformation that comes with letting your passion guide you. Now. it’s your turn.
